When connecting pipelines with grooves, we need to use groove fittings. When it comes to groove fittings, according to their different functions, the most common ones are groove type pipe joints, groove type pipe fittings, and branch pipe joints. What are the differences between these three types in practical applications? How to distinguish that?

1. Trench type pipe fittings: Trench type pipe fittings are the general term for elbows, tees, crosses, reducers, and other pipe fittings used in grooved connection pipeline systems. Trench type pipe fittings are shown in the figure. The joint parts of grooved pipe fittings are processed into circular grooves that are the same as the joint parts of the pipe.

2. Branch pipe joint refers to a saddle shaped assembled connector used to connect the branch pipe after the middle of the straight pipe is opened. There are two types of pipes: straight tee and straight cross, and the connection methods with branch pipes include groove connection and threaded connection. The positive three-way is a mechanical three-way, and the positive four-way is a mechanical four-way.

Summarize the correct method for connecting pipes with grooves: after processing the joints of pipes and fittings into circular grooves, use a quick assembly joint composed of split clamps, C-shaped rubber rings, and fasteners to connect the pipes (fittings) to each other. During installation, connect the adjacent pipe ends with rubber sealing rings and use split clamps. The inner edge of the clamp is embedded in the groove, and after being fastened with fasteners, the rubber sealing ring has better sealing performance under the action of water pressure and vacuum pressure in the pipe.
